Engineering notes:
We are running 72 V batteries because they have multiple benefits. One being you need less draw to achieve the same power and therefore the amp hours will provide more range. If you’re drawing less amps then the cells are less stressed and therefore can provide more capacity. The higher the draw on a cell the lower the capacity is.
When a cell is lower voltage around 50% it’s amp discharge is lower as well which makes the last half of the pack more powerful if you are drawing less.
